SDB Aluminium Glazing

Purchased two sets of bifold doors and a single door from sdbaluminium in May 2022. The experience with Richard and the team was excellent throughout. The quote was competitive and the payment terms acceptable. The timescale from contract to installation was about six weeks. The installation team were fabulous. Very professionally, courteous and tidy. They dealt with a a small issue with one of the doors quickly and seamlessly. I whole heartedly recommend sdbaluminium based on my experience

We made the unfortunate decision to select Richard & SDB to replace our windows and doors, opting for Timberlook flush sash and two bifold doors. SDB was neither the cheapest or dearest quote, and Richard had some good ideas. On the 2nd day of installation we noticed all the windows fitted so far were not opening and closing freely, I emailed Richard immediately and he came the next working day; Richard said they just needed adjustment and not to worry. Once all the windows and doors had been installed, alas, it turned out many of the windows were in fact faulty. Furthermore, two PVC doors also had issues. Richard had also made some errors when ordering the windows, some opening the wrong way and some windows too small for the gap, Richard tried cowboy tactics such as installing a window upside down and fitting extra packers around the window, blaming it on the lintel. During the install a worker also damaged our property which Richard initially said he would cover, but never did. Following the install, Richard arranged for the manufacturer to attend our property to fix the windows however they were unable to. The manufacturer, Timberlook, offered to remake all the faulty windows but Richard wanted compensation for his company having to reinstall them, and so the problems began. From this point, Richard chose to leave us with faulty windows, having paid him 90% of the costs. He stopped responding to emails. He blocked us from trying to negotiate a solution with the manufacturer directly. We contacted the CPA who Richard is a said member, however they informed us SDB have the lowest level of cover and thus, unless all work is complete, they provide no guarantee for the workmanship/products etc, even if SDB were to ever cease trading. Also, the CPA will only facilitate arbitration if instigated by Richard himself, not at a consumers request. We paid for an expert to assess the installation, he identified the issue with the windows and other serious installation errors we were not even aware of. We eventually turned to the courts and Richard/SDB was given two CCJs and ordered to pay us for our losses. We still have faulty windows and doors, no warranty and no Fensa certificate. Dealing with SDB and Richard has been a nightmare. I would never recommend him, replacement window installations are notorious for problems, choose wisely, and avoid SDB and Richard.

30Oct2022 *Third video review is up now* and a County Court Judgement has been issued against SDB Aluminium Glazing in my favour. We had a contract with Richard and SDB Aluminium glazing to install all new flush casement windows and doors in our house, Including a Dutemann front door and Schuco Bifold door. From the start in Oct 2021, the install was a mess with the fitters damaging both the frames and scratching the glass. A lot of the frames and glazing for them were measured and ordered incorrectly, with brick courses having to be removed to fit windows and glazing having to be reordered. After paying out 23K of a 37K invoice to SDB, Richard has walked away and left us with poorly manufactured windows, damaged and broken glass left in, a back door that's hinge bound so doesn't shut correctly and leaks. Two large windows not replaced one of which is still boarded up 9 months later. The Schuco bifold has been incorrectly installed and was ordered two large for the aperture meaning there's no adjustment for the locks so doesn't work correctly, Schuco have confirmed its not a genuine Schuco door as its not assembled with the complete Schuco system. We have tried contacting SDB and even offered arbitrary mediation but he just doesn't respond. We are now at the point of taking him to court and cant believe a company could operate like this. We were very impressed with the Dutemann bi-fold doors we saw in the SDB showroom. We had concerns on how they would fit into the structure of our 1970's timber framed bungalow. Richard McNee was very understanding and I thought he took my worries seriously. He subsequently visited our home and took the trouble to examine our house and address my concerns. We agreed to go ahead with three sets of bi-fold doors and re-glazing the existing windows which Richard suggested as the most economical and suitable option. The installation process went smoothly and the doors and glazing were fitted three weeks before the specified date. The installation took four days, the fitters were polite, considerate and tidy. We are delighted with our new doors and glazing - the transformation has been incredible. We would recommend Richard and company.

Fitted new bifold doors, back door and 2 new windows. Richard and his install guys have done an excellent job.
