My dad was discharged from hospital into the nursing care provided by Willett House in October 2020 right in the middle of the very challenging times we currently all face. At the time of his admission dad was in a very poorly condition following a bout of pneumonia. It isnt being dramatic to say that in the early weeks of his admission it was touch and go. However, thanks to a combination of professional nursing skills, determination and the genuine human kindness shown by absolutely everyone Ive now come to know at Willett House, dad pulled through some dark times. Over the last 6 months he has gradually been settling into life at Willett House whilst being kept safe. Dad still has many ongoing, complex health issues that require constant 24/7 attention but nothing is too much for this amazing group of people at Willett House. As his son I am incredibly grateful for the constant specialist nursing, patience and tenderness that the staff show my dad every day, and the warmth, openness and honesty that radiates from these good people is truly inspirational. Words do not convey my awe and deep appreciation. No family wants to see their loved one go into a nursing home, and we tried desperately to keep dad at home for as long as humanly possible. But in the end his increasing health issues simply made it impossible and it began to take its toll. Now Im pleased and relieved to say that dad has a new, awesome family caring for him day and night and I cannot adequately convey how reassuring and comforting this is to us. We have begun to sleep again, reassured by the knowledge that dad is in absolutely in the right nursing home for his needs and most importantly under the supervision and care of the right people. We, as a family, are so lucky that Willett House found us; if the circumstances had been different and I had known then what I know now about this very unassuming nursing home I would have actively chosen it for my dads care. There is no doubt in my mind there is nowhere better.
