Westcode were part of the original Westinghouse; they were bought by IXYS, and they in turn were bought by Littelfuse. It's the same business; only the nameplate on the door changes. The spelling is correct; the name is German in origin, although the group is now global. It's an LSI FAB, amazingly, and they also design small runs of custom components. They also recycle their rejects; all inhouse. There's also a higher-precision FAB, inside the main FAB - full of smoked glass, filtered lighting, and people wearing spacesuit-like PPE. They manufacturer various types of power electronics semiconductors, mainly thyristors. With usually one component per wafer, they ship in wafers made by another Littelfuse facility, and go all the way to the final cased component. Because of the custom runs, many processes are run semi-manually: You don't think of precision components as being handmade, so that's surprising. They're obsessed with Sigma Six, product quality, and customer satisfaction. They're very friendly, both to each other in the workplace, and to visitors like me.
