Called Highways with reference to the shambles caused by the new traffic lights onStation Hill. The woman didnt have a clue and put me through to Highways England. On top of their bollards on Monkton Hill this council and their staff have to be the most incompetent Ive ever come across. They dont listen to residents and are not qualified in their jobs it seems.

All I will say is that if you are unemployed and fall behind on your bills and have no money for food if you go there for a local welfare provision the receptionists seem nice but the agent I saw quite clearly had no concept of the welfare system and what it is like to be unemployed and was very reluctant to grant me a welfare provision even though I provided a bank statement which showed I had no money and showed her the statement of the amount I receive in universal credit on the gov.uk website to show nothing was due for three weeks which she fully admitted that she "had never seen before" To her credit begrudgingly in the end she did grant me the welfare provision I didn't catch her name she was Irish it was around a year ago its our fault we are unemployed "you get what your entitled too" I think she had an issue with our welfare state the benefit system and perhaps she does not like paying her taxes she was not well informed and new little about unemployment benefits I will also say that the amount an unemployed person is charged in council tax is unfeasible if you are unable to pay the council are understanding as long as you contact them to discuss repayment options If you don't they will send it to bailiffs who will increase the bill by as much 200% with fees back to the agent I saw that day for the welfare provision if she does not like paying her taxes the amount she is charged or the welfare state or benefit system I am proud of as an English man as we have the greatest most generous welfare system in the world and I can only imagine the state the country would be in without it if she does not like the fact then do not persecute the people who are a part of the system take up with parliament or write Michelle donalan a letter if she is not happy with the tax she pays or she is prejudice towards the unemployed or people on welfare then perhaps a job at the local council directly involved with benefit claimants is not for her back to the council tax considering the local services we receive for the council tax we pay speaking for myself regarding NHS services and the treatment I have been subjected too then I may as well not even have access to the service they deny me treatment in hospitals anyway so why would I bother paying for a service I do not receive I'd rather have no access to the local services our council tax pays for and not have to pay a penny because the last few times I have been to our local hospitals the staff have been incredibly rude to me then you have my previous Gp surgery I wouldn't know where to begin anyway i don't see why I should have to pay for a service I do not receive and am denied access too and if you are on benefits and you run out of food and have no money to buy any I would recommend the citizens advice bureau or the Salvation Army there service was exemplary the staff friendly polite and empathetic understanding they will issue you a food voucher themselves rather than try and debate and justify why you require a welfare provision with the council I don't know perhaps the lady I met that day was having a bad day or maybe she just did not like me lol
