Home and Dry Chichester in beautiful West Sussex is a dry cleaning and laundry company second to none. Julia the Director, epitomises all that is good in local businesses! I am an active Freemason and member of a local Masonic lodge. Freemasonry is an organisation which has an unenviable and proud history of world wide funding for national and international tragedies, as well as supporting local charities of all descriptions. Funding for Masonic charity is given freely from members world wide. I am proud to mention that Julia without prejudice is happy to assist my lodge with a logistical issue which falls within her remit as o local business person.

I wouldnt normally do this but I feel I have to, to warn other customers with Home & Dry Chichester my awful experience. I took my garment in to their Felpham branch to be dry cleaned. I have used this shop a few times with no problems in the past. Mainly self service. On this particular occasion I was taking my Reiss jumpsuit to be dry cleaned. I have taken this item before for the exact clean. I collected my garment a week later, all neatly wrapped in the usual cellophane. I immediately hung it up in my wardrobe. Does anyone check their dry cleaning item these days after a service? You would think in 2022 we shouldnt have to. How wrong I was. Huge lesson learned for me. Always check your item after collection. 7 weeks passed. I had a wedding to attend and I thought Id better try on my jumpsuit to make sure it still fitted me ok. I could have cried. I actually did. There was this, what looked like a burn mark on the leg. Quite a size too. You can imagine my shock and horror when I saw this. I immediately phoned the head office in Chichester who asked me to bring the item in and show them the damage. I did this straight away. On arrival I was greeted by two ladies, one being the managing director/ owner I believe. Basically I was attacked verbally and was told under no circumstances were they to blame. They told me it was a cigarette burn or maybe I had moths in my wardrobe. They offered to send it away and put a patch on. I reluctantly agreed and was told to collect my jumpsuit a week later from the felpham branch. A week went by, went to collect my garment. Of course it wasnt ready, even though the ticket said the collection date. I was told the lady who mends the garments was on sick leave. I was frustrated as no one had bothered to call me. I called the head office who told me the garment had been mended and it would be transferred to the felpham branch the next day. Somebody lied! This got my back up so I asked for my garment to be returned untouched. I decided to take action now as I knew the hole/burn was not my fault. Im not a smoker, I dont go near smokers and I certainly dont have moths in my wardrobes. I decided to get a second opinion from an independent dry cleaners in Bognor Regis. They were very helpful and informed me that in their opinion this was not a cigarette burn, nor moths but in fact a chemical burn!!!! I wrote another letter to the head office who finally agreed to pay me 50 pounds goodwill gesture. The size of the hole I would have felt a burn on my leg which of course I didnt. I wrote back refusing the 50 pounds and asked for 100 pounds plus 9 pounds cleaning cost. My jumpsuit cost me 220 pounds. I bought it for my sons wedding. Unfortunately, Home & Dry refused this. I decided I didnt want this to get dragged through the courts, Im a busy person but Im writing this honest review to warn others should you decide to use this company for your dry cleaning always check your garments before and after cleaning and in front of staff. EDIT In response to your response, Im very angry that you feel I have deliberately damaged my wedding outfit which I wore to my sons wedding. Of course I do this all the time. You said you sent pictures to an industry inspector who said the damage was PROBABLY not done by your cleaning company. So that to me means there was a discrepancy. I will say again I took my garment to a dry cleaning company in Bognor Regis who confirmed my findings and told me this was a chemical burn and absolutely was not done by a cigarette or moths. Why would I want to fork out over another 100 pounds plus to an industry advisor bearing in mind I have already lost 220 pounds for my ruined garment, plus 9 pounds cleaning, to be told it was a chemical burn caused by yourselves. I do not accept any of your claims either, so best just leave it there. Ive definitely learnt from this experience and I hope your company has too.
