I'm assuming Chesterfield Antiques Auction have shut down as their 'Next auction date' is November 2019 and it's now nearly the end of February 2020. I wish people would either keep their websites up to date or shut them down !!!

I would highly recommend this auction to anyone due to the following reasons. All staff are welcoming and friendly and will greet you with a smile. The auctioneer himself is very friendly and sociable with great and vast knowledge of antiques. Even if your a first time buyer or auction goer there is always someone on hand to help Overall this is a lovely and fun day out and i would highly recommend.

We had a chat with the auctioneer before driving 25 miles to meet him. He said if we made up five boxes of (new) stock he would put it in the auction at the end to see if they would sell or not. Incidentally the auction charges you four pounds plus for unsold lots, it seems they get paid either way. We spent around three hours packing the boxes because the auction house suggested making up five boxes with the same items in each box, and to make the boxes up to a retail value of one hundred pounds, which we did. On arrival the person we met with did not even look at the items. He simply dismissed us and told us that he had just bought a Christmas box with a rrp of ten pound's for seventy five pence. Our boxes contained Christmas items including wooden decorations, good quality items with reasonable recommended retail prices. If your a seller I would not recommend this auction, there are many Auction houses to choose from in the Derby and Nottingham area. The bigger auctions would probably have a better attendance, this auction is held at a local Community centre. If your a buyer you could get a bargain. Perhaps the seventy five pence box will be yours for close to the minimum bid. If you bid say three pound you would have paid four times the price, before the auction adds on its twenty two percent commission. Around four pounds for a seventy five pence box.
