Lovely traditional oasis serving good beer & wines with proper traditional food in a warm & friendly old fashioned pub. I only visited to have a lunch (Gamon, spuds & parsley sauce - cooked to perfection and served properly piping hot). They also serve gluten free food too. The staff couldn't do better to make you feel more welcome... it been a while since I last visited... way too long, and I'm not going to repeat that mistake again. Definitely will be back ... soon!

As I said to the lovely landlady, this is my favourite pub in Chester. There is always great real ales and a cosy place to chill out. The pubs resident cat always pops up to say hello. A sign warns that it can scratch but weve never been scratched. The foody smell from the kitchen is very tempting. It is well hidden away but well worth seeking out. The obvious signage at the entrance about stag and hen groups keeps out the rowdy riff-raff.
