I have used Jo from Animal Basics for many years to take care of my dog Misty for walks, daycare and holidays and had always felt I trusted her. Although Misty would return very dirty, I was happy as long as she was loved and cared for.
However since covid Misty rarely went there. This year she was booked to stay 2 weeks so we could go on holiday. Misty had early signs of arthritis and was making great progress due to hydrotherapy.
In order to stay with Jo, I had discussed that Misty needs to have only short walks and given her daily medication (vitamin for arthritis and potassium to prevent stones). When she returned it was obvious that she hadnt been given it every day. Also, I told Jo that she can take Misty to my vets if need be.
When we returned from holiday and Jo brought Misty back, we were horrified by the state that she was in. She couldnt walk on her back leg, she had a large skin infection on her chest, she had lost 1kg in weight, she smelt of urine and was vomiting all night.
I am so deeply disappointed and devastated by the sheer lack of care and neglect that Misty received. There is no way it wasnt apparent that Misty needed to see the vet.
With deep sadness Misty went to the vets the next day and her kidneys had stopped functioning but they confirmed her back ankle was broken (which was a new injury). She had to be put down.
What I cannot understand is how Jo didnt recognise from all the obvious signs I stated above that she needed medical care. The sadness is how neglected she was in her last few weeks. I would hate for any other dog to have to go through this.

We would in no way shape or form trust this place again. We trusted Jo. However, we left our dog with her for two weeks while on holiday. She went as a very happy clean dog and came back like a street dog. She was lame on her right back leg with a crushed foot. Supposedly done 4 days before we got back. She had two skin infections, she stunk of Urine and had lost 1KG in weight and she is only 7KG. We took her to the vet and she had Kidney issues, then on the Wednesday she was put down. We do not blame her for the Kidney's but we do hold Jo responsible for neglecting our little Angel. To think that her last two weeks while we was away she was in her care (if you can call it that), She was in pain and not cared for kills me.
Jo said she showed no signs of discomfort, or ill health. she could'nt walk on her back leg and was very very subdued. Jo knows our dog and she out right neglected her, she knew she could take her to our Vets as previously discussed I am doing this in the hope that nobody else has to go through what we are.
I don't even think Jo looked after her if she did I am even more disgusted. Do not expand if you cannot care for peoples Dogs properly. Disgusted to say the least. To think I paid for this, she would of been safer in our garden for two weeks.
