Took some hard copies in, to get multiples copies made. Left the work there to collect later. Soon after, I was phoned by an employee with a quote that I said (very calmly) I found quite high - my son had got a similar job done there a year ago, for a much smaller sum. I asked her not to go ahead and that I would be round to get the work back. Immediately, the phone rang again - the man with whom I had discussed the work was on the end of the line disagreeing - very forcefully and loudly - with my comments. Hmmm, did this approach make me want to ask them to go ahead? Or to recommend? Not really..... He then phoned again, a couple of minutes later, to say that his original quote had been incorrect and gave me a second figure that was 35% less than the first. Hmmm, that is pretty incorrect! Did it make me feel he was just plucking a figure out of the air? Yes.... When I returned to the company to retrieve the work, he berated me Again on how incorrect I was Perhaps unsurprisingly, I didn't get the work done. I did it at home, where it was much calmer, a lot less hassle and involved far smaller job than he had told me it was.
