We have just used Mint builders for our kitchen knock through, flooring, plastering and I would like to say how great they are. Simon and Sean always turn up exactly when they say they will, they work very hard, they are very professional and have done an amazing job. We couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Claire's husband here. I was of the opinion that "these things happen" and willing to let it drop but now I need to clarify what happened. If nothing else so his colleagues mock him mercilessly for turning up to quote for boarding a loft and fitting a loft ladder and not realising that he needed to bring a ladder! So, after not bringing a ladder (a pretty basic error, I'm sure you'll agree), he had to borrow mine. I carried it to under the hatch for him while chatting to him (he seemed like a nice enough bloke thus justifying 1 star). After he told me that this was the same sort of ladder that he used, I offered to let him set it up however he wished. While unfolding the ladder, he managed to crack it into the wall and remove a chunk of plaster. With regards to everything else in the visit, I can't complain. What really wound me up was his response when my wife complained though; "As your husband supplied the ladder and wouldn`t open it himself I`m surprised you now wish to find me at fault. Needless to say I won`t be fixing anything." Following this e-mail, I'm lead to believe that as I supplied a ladder the damage caused by it was my fault, or was it my fault because it was my wall? Either way, there's not a chance that I'm letting this guy back in my house again for construction. If, however, I want demolition work done these are the first people I will go to: if he can do this damage with a ladder, I can only imagine how quickly he can knock a wall down with the right tools!

After coming out to offer a quote for work, whilst assembling the ladder they managed to take a chunk of plaster the size of a pound coin out of our wall. I emailed asking how they would be willing to rectify this and got no response. I emailed again a week later and eventually got a reply. They took no responsibility, there was no apology and a very childish tone of "needless to say I won't be fixing it". Not what I (or anyone?!) would expect from a professional. 'Needless to say' I will not be recommending them or using them in future!
