I have windows that were so say refurbished. This means gluing pieces of wood onto rotten windows so the catches could be screwed in and painted over. The windows do not open and they are rotten.
This was raised during the original snagging and numerous times since. Along with the washing machine that fell out the cupboard every time it was on Spin. They resolved this issue by gluing it into the cabinet! Maybe if the floor had been levelled this wouldnt of been an issue.
The catches have fallen off the windows and you can screw then back into rotten wood. Not what you expect from a new build. You would of thought in this day and age they would of put in UPVC or at least replaced the rotting windows.
The windows are covered in condensation all the time and I have had to buy a dehumidifier to reduce this to ensure I dont end up with mould.
The site manger Mark Dominey said it needed ventilation and I asked, how can it be ventilated when you cant open them.
There was a leak above the bay window in my bedroom and spare room. The site manager tried to tell me that the rain had hit the building at an awkward angle and made the water penetrate the walls. Really, I may be female but dont insult my intelligence. The lead had been stolen from the roof and two other flats roofs on the same build.
The washing machine broke within 6 months. I used it 5 times as it was useless. Although under guarantee, I was told by Gilmans that the bill of sale is the builder. After a lengthy discussion they agreed to replace it. The only issue was that they dont stock any washing machines that cheap. I have now had to pay extra to have the machine replaced and also to have it fitted. As the builder never paid for fitting, this is not covered by the guarantee.
The heating which is supposed to be energy efficient costs a fortune.
In a 2 bedroom flat with 6 radiators in total. It costs me 15 per day. Bearing in mind that I live on my own and I am at work during the day.
It costs more to hear this flat than the 4 bed that I moved from.
The appliances are Montpellier. Check out the reviews for this brand and you will be as horrified as me.
Both sinks in the bathrooms are now cracked.
The sink in the ensuite has been leaking since I moved it. This was due to the waste not connected properly and the wood where the pipes are boxed in is rotten.
Flooring in the kitchen and bathroom is not laid correctly and this is due to the floors not being level. How much does it cost for levelling fluid? My point exactly!
I have been in this new build for less than a year and I wouldnt advise anyone to buy from Cape Homes or the Mark Holland Group.
If I could give this company minus stars I would.
