The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie Cheltenham

Arrived at 7pm for 7.30pm booking was told no room inside to wait could wait outside or come back . Was my 70th birthday meal out . Started to choose our dish , starters pate , main lobster linguine for me . first two choices of husband sold out so plummeted for sirloin steak . Linguine 34.00 small amount linguine tough lobster and bland . Sirloin steak ordered rare came blue and cold . Chose green beans to accompany and chips . Best part of dish chips . Needless to say for 168.00 bill shall not be rushing back . Food extremely is disappointing ,place itself decor outstanding hard to beat shame about the food . Seems lunchtime is a better experience.

Zero stars for Im afraid, arrived 20 minutes early for a 7.30pm reservation for a pre dinner drink as it was my wifes birthday, to be told you cant come in too busy, come back at 7.30? We arrived back at 7.30 waited some 20 minutes to be asked for our drinks order, when it came to ordering the food we dont have that or that whic were my first two choices, really! I ordered the steak rare hard to get wrong you would think especially from the Ivy wrong, steak came blue and the fat was not rendered at all, just raw an inedible. Just extremely overpriced for the service and food, so do yourself a favour give it a wide birth there are plenty of very good places in Cheltenham, the Ivy spoilt my wifes significant birthday! Shame on you!

A friend and I visited for lunch. Both food and service were excellent. I can particularly recommend the cheese souffl, but to be perfectly honest, I thoroughly enjoyed all three of my courses. I followed this with the sea bass and after a short interval, topped it off with the impressive chocolate bombe. We accompanied lunch with a strawberry and rhubarb royale to start, followed by a refreshing bottle of the house tempranillo rose, we weren't disappointed. This was our first visit to The Ivy in Cheltenham and it won't be our last. Dietary restrictions: My friend is dairy intolerant and found plenty of choice on the menu. She particularly enjoyed the coconut milk panacotta.

The interior decor is beautiful but, the equality of the food does represent the price. Will not be going again. The Ivy have contacted me and have apologised and generously compensated me which I am very grateful for. They are also looking into the supply of the meat to make improvements.
