I was initially unable to find the hotel and despite calling the number provided on the site and leaving a message I had no response. When I finally found the property I had to knock on a door to gain access. I was greeted by a gentleman who was pleasant but was not aware I was arriving and confirmed they had no bookings today. Luckily I was able to proove my booking via a email chain and receipt of payment and after ten minutes of the gentleman shuffling around wuth no shoes on being left in the corridor on my own they found my reservation but had no room ready. I was assured my bag would be taken to my room once made up but when I returned later in the evening my bag was still in the corridor. Onto the morning and I went downstairs around 8am for breakfast but nothing was open and no signs to confirm where to go. For fairness a parking permit was arranged for my car but overall a very poor experience.

Nice location in the leafy suburbs of Cheltenham about a mile out of town, however we had room 7 at the back the property which unfortunately backs on to Prestbury Road which can be fairly busy. We could not check in before 17.30 which I thought was a little odd. We were greeted by the owners and they were very friendly, we had a brief exchange and were shown to our room which was on the top floor. The room was very nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable, however it was very dusty, and the kettle and bedding wasn't the cleanest. The following morning we had breakfast which wasn't explained very well, not only to ourselves but there was also confusion with other guests. I will say at this point, the lady of the house was recovering from a very serious back injury. Do I think it was worth the 100 we paid for one night, no I don't, not when you consider we paid 75 for two nights stay in Gloucester at the beginning of June. Would I recommend The Cheltenham Lawn, yes I would, but be prepared to be disappointed.
