Ive just passed first time, and want to pass on my thanks to Ray, who has been an excellent driving instructor. I had some anxieties about motorway driving at the beginning of the course due to a traumatic experience, and Ray helped me overcome this challenge with patient and supportive help and tuition. His lessons are good fun (hes a comedian as well as an instructor!) and I recommend him highly.

I would expect a driving instructor to be familiar with the highway code and to teach his students courtesy and consideration of other road users, but he appears not to value these aspects of driving. Rule 242 of the Highway Code states "you must not unreasonably obstruct the highway". A vehicle bearing the name 'Ray's Driver Training' parked immediately opposite my drive this morning, when my wife wanted to access the highway. He (Ray?) could see the difficulties my wife was having (the road is for access and extremely narrow. I politely asked the instructor if he would move his vehicle a short distant along the road to enable my wife to access the highway. Initially he was defensive claiming a right to park where he wanted but clearly was not conversant with the highway code. This was clearly a case of being unreasonable, contrary to the Highway Code and not what driving schools should be teaching their students. The driving school vehicle eventually moved (begrudgingly) and my wife was able to go about her lawful business. Additional comment: The reply below clearly indicates -1] a failure to recognize what constitutes an obstruction, 2] Lack of knowledge of the Highway Code (very worrying for a driving school), 3] No consideration for residents in a residential area and 4] a distinct lack of humility when held to account. A good business would welcome and encourage feedback (positive or negative) to improve its profile and reputation - essential for a driving school one would think!
