The Dog at Peover

Last moment decision to go to The Dog for lunch on bank holiday Monday. We hadnt booked & they were extremely busy. Thank you Becky for juggling things around to find us a table. When seated given how busy they were drinks came swiftly. We ordered the chicken burger (can highly recommend) and a cheese sandwich also lovely. Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service! Would highly recommend.

Dreadful experience last weekend (22/4/23). Myself and my wife decided to have an early evening meal. I ordered scampi from the specials and my wife ordered the ribs. My scampi was tough and not great. My wife asked for more sauce with her ribs. The sauce that turned up certainly wasn't what they were served with. No one came to check on the food. When we were asked by the waitress if everything was OK when clearing the plates we commented that the scampi was poor and asked about the extra sauce. Having checked, the waitress told us the young lad serving us was new and he had 'probably had brought brown sauce'! No real apology, that apparently was a perfectly reasonable explanation. We were told twice a manager would come and see us but no one appeared. A full price bill appeared, we ended up paying and vowing never to return which is a shame as we're local and have had good meals in the past. It's a shame no one there seems to care about the service...
