I enjoyed a fantastic breakfast at The Mousehole caf this morning, I don't visit Cheddar that often but when I do this is definitely my go to place to eat. Staff are always friendly, welcoming and accommodating, there is a good choice of things to eat and drink and the atmosphere inside is bright, clean and cheerful. Well deserving of five stars! Parking: There was space so I was able to make use of the free one hour parking right outside the door.

Here we go my sister and brother in law had taken me here today as they had been a few times having afternoon tea well disappointed I am we waited over 3/4 hour for our afternoon tea the scones were stale and cakes weren't that great carrot cake... brownie... Not everyones cup of tea is it really... the bread on sandwich wasn't that fresh the girls stood arms folded playing with there hair one couple sat for ages then got served but waited so long left and clearly went else where there was a family on next table again waiting for table to be cleaned and get served disgusting service asked to see boss manager but on day off so saw young girl that just apologised 39 needless to say my sister and brother in law will not be going again poor service

Average food and all rather disjointed, although admittedly it was Easter Sunday and the place was filling up quickly. We were made aware of the waiting times for food, so this was not an issue. The reason for our low score was because my mum ordered a toasted teacake with butter, which arrived with a ramekin of what was very clearly vegetable spread. My mum asked the staff member if it was butter, to which she immediately said 'yes', but my mum asked her to check with the kitchen. The staff member returned saying it was butter despite it clearly being flavourless spread, which barely melted on the teacake. As we were leaving, we noticed in the food preparation area a large tub of vegetable spread, open on the counter with a knife in it. It wasn't nice feeling we had been lied to, and the situation could have easily been avoided. It may be worth providing foiled wrapped butter pats in future, or mentioning when ordering that butter is not available.
