Job booked for a LWB van to be towed 15 miles, I was quoted 210 and told the driver would arrive in 2 hours. The job was booked at 8pm. At 9pm I asked the booking agent for a more accurate ETA. Me nor the driver heard anything so I chased again 9:30pm, I finally got a response at 9:40pm advising the driver would be another 1 hour 20 minutes, when we was expecting the driver to arrive within 20 minutes.
I simply asked why I was not updated with the delay - why I had to keep chasing to find out and can any compensation be offered due to the delay. I paid for a private service to prevent the driver waiting too long as it was late at night and I had other quotes that estimated 35 minute arrival. Sam in a condescending manner thanked me for my opinion of addressing the issue and told me to cut the conversation short and will offer me a refund and I can look for another driver if I am not happy to wait. Typical scam tactics to pressure a paying customer once you have over promised a job and provided poor communication to notify them of delays so they don't get the chance to cancel earlier.
We did not cancel as we had already waited so long, which he knew we wouldn't and that's why we didn't get any ETAs and why he so passive aggressive on the phone. Job finally completed at 1AM in the morning. Best to call RAC and deal with someone polite. Service: Special vehicle towing
