since the new owners took over, the fish looks amazing and big BUT is mainly batter which is really soggy and clumpy inside and sticks to the slither of fish= very disappointed. Chips look anaemic but taste ok

15 minutes for a small cod and chips is just not good enough, my last visit Im afraid. Shame, used to be good.

New ownership and new name Some additional items, mostly popular Chinese takeaway type, on the menu. Seems to lack some consistency at the moment but still very acceptable

I heard they had recently been taken over and I hadnt been in there for many years as it was never that nice in the past. Today I went in there and asked for a pasty and the lady was friendly but spoke little English and was giving me a chicken pie (they dont sell pasties). I went with cod and chips and chicken and chips. When i got home I discovered that they had only given me one portion of chips (tbf they appear to have only charged me for one portion of chips). The cod was okayish but my wife said it had a strange after taste, but the batter was not very nice and went in the bin. The chips were edible but not the nicest. My chicken breast was partly warm on the outside but fridge cold inside (I mean fridge cold not luke warm), so that went in the bin in its entirety. I should mention that my mate has been in there a few times recently and said his food was okay, so perhaps I was unlucky but I definitely wont be giving them another try after my experience today. Also note that they only take cash.
