Before the start of Blackfriars Road bridge on the south bank, stands a recently built modern building ive taken to admire - probably due to its unique quirky shape, design and appearance. ONE BLACKFRIARS, nicknamed 'THE BOOMERANG' or 'THE VASE' stands on the original site of Sainsbury Hq.supermarket at No.1 Blackfriars Road, Bankside S.E.1. This mixed development of apartments stands in view of 'THE SHARD' (east) and closer SOUTH BANK TOWER ( west) nr. Waterloo Bridge. The 50- storeyed tower is one of London' tallest buildings at height 535ft ( 163m). Construction began in 2013, and completed in 2018 by architect Simpson Haugh & Partners - engineers WSP Group & Hoare Lea - designers Tara Bernard & Partners (interiors) and Byrne Bros.Ltd. In my view, London embraces many different designs, architecture, structures of varying heights that add to an 'eye-catching ' City skyline. Even some aptly named with gimmicky nicknames! Good to see some building projects stand out from the rest, appreciation of opinion is another thing though! I hope also the 'TULIP TOWER in the City gets the go-ahead in the near future - bring it on I say! Chris.

Another weird glass monolith full of luxury apartments that the average Londoner couldn't possibly afford. Ask yourself who owns all of these apartments popping up in skyscrapers all across London? Not Londoners. Most are nothing more than fully fitted but empty apartments which represent assets for foreign elites, oligarchs, political tyrants and OCGs to park and launder dirty money in property assets that have a valuation at the moment better than Gold and more secure with an annual growth rate more lucrative than Swiss or Cayman Islands bank accounts. No surprise that these developments have taken off substantially under the corrupt office of the mayor of London.
