Having joined this gym just under a year ago, with no prior boxing experience nor expectations, all I can think is, I wish I joined this gym in my earlier years. E.L.B.A is a diverse gym, rich in culture, talent and skill thats run by exceptional coaches. I have observed how this gym has created a discipline in the highly skilled young fighters and even for the more casual/fitness participants like myself. A great learning environment for my fellow beginners, and a great place for the more experienced fighters to continue or reignite their boxing journey under the tutelage of great coaches.

One of the best boxing gyms in the UK, multiple national and London champions, hard sparring produces hard men. The gym is filled with diverse people. Heavy emphasis on discipline at this gym, perfect for anyone willing to put in the work

I attended adult sessions for a short while and here are my observations: There are 2 groups of people in classes, people who spar and others who just attend for fitness. The sparring is hard sparring and sessions usually end with a good circuit to finish the session. The other group just hit the bags all the day. There are no technical classes so both groups are stuck in their ways. The non sparrers never get skilled enough to spar and the sparrers get babied because they're a handful. One of the non sparrers complained in the locker room when I said it was a good class and he said wait till you've been here for a few months so they felt it was repetitive and I spoke to the main coach who let me for sparring sessions. I tried to opt for light sparring but I realised the participants are encouraged to spar hard. During the session I said go light to my opponent and the other trainer told my opponent he wouldn't listen if he was my opponent. I'm more experienced in kickboxing than boxing so I was still adjusting to boxing rules. I don't see why hard sparring is encouraged here so much. There's a time and place for it but every session is illogical. It doesn't prove the fighters are tough and it causes people to come in once or twice a week then rest. Would be better if they had light sparring and technical sessions as more people would attend more often and the people who go for fitness won't get bored and will catch up with sparrers. In the end I don't think I could learn boxing here and I slowly began to feel annoyed. During my whole 2 weeks I was never taught to throw a uppercut . Luckily I did kickboxing so didn't need to learn but for beginners it would be terrible. While I sparred the other trainer was giving my opponent advice on how to fight me. I'm already new to boxing and he's experienced so you couldn't baby him anymore imo . The temptation to just shin kick someone in their face or front kick someone in their knee cap and show everyone being a brute has no benefit became too great for me to continue. But overall great place for fitness, Ali is a top man, but if you want to learn boxing or want longevity it's not the place for you. As for the fitness, 6 a session isn't worth it for me personally. My gym has a boxing bag and charges 35 a month so I could do the same session there and save money. If you want a good CrossFit session or want to train how boxers do for fitness, this is still a decent place to learn this. I think I've been fair in my review
