What you need to know if you are thinking of buying from Roundbrand. In reply to Roundbrands response 18/5/22: Firstly, my review early May 2022 is honest and correct and I would repeat it under oath. There is nothing in the review Roundbrand havent previously been made aware of. Roundbrands response stating the glass is not faulty helpfully supports the purpose of my review to let customers see the undesirable hazy blue characteristics of their Planibel glass in tip-top condition. Customers are not informed of this at the point of sale and it won't be rectified when they complain. Roundbrands self proclaimed Excellent Service tells you everything you need to know about their disregard for customer opinions. An Excellent Service rating is earned when companies go over and above to make the customer happy. They could easily have resolved the problem by replacing the worst affected Planibel glass with Planitherm glass after the first inspection 2 years ago (only 4 out of 19 door panes), but they didnt and wont, hence 1 star. *** Initial Review c. 13/5/22 *** What you need to know if you are thinking of buying from Roundbrand. In summary, their warranty period is not as good as it first sounds and secondly their Planibel glass is hazy and blue in daylight. Read on for my experience. 1. Their guarantee starts at the point you place the order, not when the units are fitted or even manufactured. Our windows took over 6 months to manufacture and fit. This meant some components with a 12 month warranty, such as the chrome door handles which started corroding, had less than 6 months warranty once fitted. 2.We bought 9 windows and 5 pairs of doors. Roundbrand didnt say they would provide different Eco glass in the doors to that in the vertical slider windows and it took the best part of 2 years for them to admit this was the underlying reason for the issues described below. The doors are in Planibel glass which has a hazy blue effect in daylight especially bad in direct sunlight and the windows are in Planitherm glass which is crystal clear at all times. So we now have a mix of blue glass doors and crystal clear windows. Not pretty. To make matters worse they replaced a faulty window pane (Clear Planitherm) with Blue Planibel rather than replacing like-for-like. I stopped them replacing two other faulty Planitherm panels. On two occasions their own inspector said the door glass was poor and needed replacing, but the replacements were no better. They told me some customers resorted to replacing the blue glass with non-Eco clear glass and signing a waiver because it doesnt meet building regulations. I asked for the 2 most affected door panes to be replaced with the Planitherm glass and had to escalate this request to the Managing Directors who had the discourtesy of ignoring my 2 letters sent over two months before I eventually contacted them by phone. The MD said there is nothing technically wrong with the glass, that's just how it performs, so they would not address the issue. This characteristic of the glass seems to be a feature they point out in the small print after you complain rather than highlighting it to you before the sale. Notably when I discussed this with the very helpful showroom staff they were oblivious of the different glass types, characteristics and what types they were actually displaying in the showroom. I can categorically say there was no Planibel glass used in the showroom when I ordered as it stands out a mile from clear glass. See photo below showing a removed window panel in Planitherm (clear with purple border) alongside the French door in Planibel (hazy blue with red border) to compare the effect of sunlight on the clarity of each type of glass. Also a photo where Roundbrand replaced a faulty Planitherm window pane with Planibel (hazy blue with red border) alongside the original freestanding Planitherm glass panel (clear with purple border). If you want hazy blue glass, an unsympathetic view from the management and a dubious warranty period, go ahead and buy from Roundbrand.
