Okay, I will start with the good points. The charge point at McDonalds Glasshoughton was very easy to use, and worked perfectly. With an almost completely flat battery, and a long journey ahead, I needed a full charge. At 7am on Sunday morning, an empty car park, this looked a good place to fully top up the battery. Initially, I was very happy. Now the bad point. Six weeks later I am feeling very grumpy. I have received a fine for 50 for being in the car park for more than 90 minutes. Now I know legally there is nothing I can do about this, so I have paid the fine. I also know that any response to this message will effectively say "sorry, but parking is not our responsibility". However, I am leaving this feedback to firstly raise awareness with other new EV drivers so they avoid the same mistake .....and don't forget to include the wait time you often face to access the charge point, the clock is ticking on your "parking" time. The cameras log your number plate on car park entry and do not distinguish the difference between normal park spots and charging spaces. Secondly, I am leaving this feedback to urge charging companies, in this case Instavolt, car parking enforcement companies, and commercial businesses, to actually come together and offer a fully workable solution for EV drivers. It is in everyone's interest. Next month, when I need to make the same trip, I will be giving the old petrol engine car a long run out. I don't want to, but six months into owning an EV, I have learnt that whilst it all sounds very good there is a long way to go to making this all work beyond local urban driving. Sorry for the long rant, I do not usually engage in reviews. However, I feel it important others are made aware of what can happen if you are not really careful. EV drivers beware!
