Futures Housing Group are dreadful and in this context, dangerous. Every time I've contacted them it's been a process of ruthlessley inefficient bureaucracy. The latest has reached a point of total frustration and I've had to report this publicly and to another organisation. Last year, around November time, I contacted them to report that after excess rain, mould and rising damp had started seeping in through the flat, more potently in the bedroom on the wall that faces the communal garden. Futures eventually agreed, and after two months, whiched included a delay on their own surveyor visit, finally arrived. Damage was duly noted and a repair company was hired on their behalf. Fast forward to 20th April, the contractor arrived and began work, concluding it on the 21st April. However, the job was not finished. The area of the exterior wall, that both the Futures Housing surveyor and the repair contractor highlighted as a concern, was left entirely untouched. As a result, the moisture, rising damp and mould is constantly returning on a weekly basis whenever there is rain or excess dampness from outside. I contacted Futures immediately only to be told that "Unfortunately as your property is leasehold we cannot guarantee that we can help as the responsibility for such matters falls as your own normally" which is rather bizarre as Futures Housing is fully responsible for exterior repairs and I only control the interior of my flat. If I was responsible, why did Futures Housing hire a repair company then? The mould and stench is horrendous. I cannot even use the in-built cupboard that shares the same wall as the exterior and all my decoration has cracked and peeled. New flooring which I had installed has also started to discolour and flake off due to the damp from outside, so my flat is also losing value as well as my health. This company just doesn't seem to care which is odd because their marketing emails gives the facade of caring, especially when they used the recent tragedy of a child dying from mould in their home.
