St. James the Great Church

I'm fascinated by historical architecture and one of my side projects in my long-term photography project is to visit as many churches as I can as I travel around the UK. I recently visited Castle Acre Priory and as St James the Great Church is only a few minutes walk from the priory it was a no-brainer to visit it. It has a very heavy wooden door, and for some reason I am obsessed with doors and doorways! Inside the church is very well kept with some lovely stained glass. The graveyard is well maintained with some headstones dating back hundreds of years. The church was built in the 15th century and is a fine example of Perpendicular Gothic architecture. The church is home to a number of interesting features, including a carved wooden screen, a 15th-century font, and a set of 17th-century stained glass windows. It is well worth a visit if you are visiting Castle Acre.
