Great first glamping experience with our two young boys. They loved the geodome, which had everything we needed. It did get cold at night so best bring lots of layers! The wood fired hot tubs do take a long time to heat but keep warm for ages so get it on early to enjoy during your stay. The adventure playground was fantastic and the swing park was such fun. Will definitely be returning soon! We visited the pub and made pizzas which the kids loved! The set up for making them was perfect and well worth the price. Thanks so much!!

We loved our stay in one of the Geodomes, the weather wasnt great but the log fire and great view made it all ok. One suggestion would be to offer tea and coffee facilities in the domes for when the weather is poor, but thats a personal preference. We have stayed camp katur for the last three years in different types of accommodation and we will be back in 2024! Highly recommend!

We booked a 3 night stay in the Zavijura geodome at Camp Katur over the Easter weekend. Check-in was quick and friendly. The geodome itself was perfect for a weekend glamping. It has its own shower and toilet, which was handy. We went with 2 kids, and although the sofa folded out to sleep 2, our youngest went in a travel cot, which worked better. It had one USB charging point which was located on a floor socket by the wired in fridge, so it was possible to charge a phone, but we found it easier to use the standard plug sockets in the communal kitchen. Given the time of year and dull weather, the dome got pretty cold on a night. However there was a log store which we stocked up with plenty of logs from and made sure we got the stove going early enough on an evening and before we got up on a morning to ensure it was toasty warm. I imagine the domes would be like a greenhouse in sunny weather, and they advise to keep the shades closed on bright days. The field the domes were on was pretty boggy, but it had been unusually rainy, so this was to be expected. In dryer weather, this would've been a perfect space for playing and ball games. It was also handy to be able to boil our camping kettle on the log burner. The outside area had a fire pit with a grill that I'd guess you could bbq on. However, it didn't look clean enough for food, so it's probably best to take your own. There was also a picnic bench and two single benches. Although there was no crockery in the dome itself, there was a communal kitchen with 2 cookers, many toasters, a microwave, kettle, and plenty of crockery, cutlery, baking trays and pans. We actually had breakfast down there every morning and dinner one evening. There is an onsite pub (open until 8 on selected evenings) where it was nice to get a drink and chat with other campers. From here, you can also buy pizza kits, which include dough, sauce, cheese, and toppings, for use on the wood fired pizza oven. We had good fun doing this one evening. Expect a short wait to use the oven on busy evenings. Round the corner from here is the onsite shop that operates on an honesty system (you fill in a slip to say what you've taken, which gets charged to your card when you leave). There's also a wide selection of items to borrow and return (hot water bottles, travel cots, camp beds, chess, and rounders set). The site itself is very big, and at times, you can feel like the only people there. At the far end of the site is the 'plane crash' site, which we walked to by the lake. There were so many rabbits round there! There's also a swing park for the kids, an outdoor gym, and a woodland kingdom play area. There was plenty of wildlife around to enjoy - every evening, we had a pair of tawny owls right by our dome calling to each other. On the Saturday morning, my 7 year old daughter and I took part in the bushcraft experience. This was led by Jonathan, who was very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. Along with another family group, we learnt to build effective shelters a la Ed Stafford, start a fire using a few different methods, and we did some campfire cookery. This was a highlight of the weekend and was absolutely worth the extra money. The session ended with lunch around the campfire with toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate for afters. I'd absolutely recommend Camp Katur (though I'd maybe stear away from a geodome in the height of summer if you don't like the heat). It is pricey, but it was worth it for us, and we'd definitely return. It's in a central location with plenty to do nearby, so perfect for a family weekend.

We managed to book a geodome last minute for the Easter weekend for a family of four. The geodome was fantastic, the only reason I havent given 5 stars is that the sofa bed was a bit of a tight squeeze once opened out. You can get essential supplies from the store 24 hours a day with an honesty system and there are great communal kitchen facilities. The Hebridean bar where you can get a drink and make your own pizza is great. Im not someone who goes camping but I had a great time and would definitely go again. It was perfect with 2 kids aged 3 and 8 and also really peaceful, the accommodation is perfectly spread out.

The location is fantastic, the open site offers great walks and most importantly peace and quiet. The geodome was spacious and was more than adequate for 2 people and a dog. During the day the inside was nice and warm, on an evening the wood fired stove was essential and overnight the temperature became very cold when the fire went out. There is a large sofa for chilling on if the weather outside is a little inclement. The double bed is very comfortable, with a memory foam style mattress and clean white linen. The Duvet was nice and warm and if things got too cold there was additional blankets in an ottoman. Behind the bed is the enclosed shower and toilet. The floor is nicely textured non-slip vinyl. There is shower gel and shampoo provided. There is only one electric socket, this is located near the door at the back of the pod, it does have 2 USB sockets built in too. This does mean you will have to think ahead and charge phones before bed if you want to use the alarm function. Next to the socket is a small fridge with a small ice box. Check the setting of the fridge as it froze the food we put inside, the thermostat was set at its midpoint. Heating the hot tub is done via an external wood burning boiler. You will need to have an idea of how to start a fire and feed it; and you WILL need to feed the fire constantly. It took 8 hours to heat the water to an acceptable temperature and with frequent trips to the wood store, there is wheel barrows for this purpose, it consumed the vast majority of my full day on the site. The fire was needier than a teenage social media wannabe!!! Extra decking from the steps to the burner would be a nice touch, was a little annoying feeding the flame and wading in the mud. May be the water had been changed or had not been used for a few days, but on the first day the water was
