This is the best Care Home I have seen for years. My friend Barbara lives here and loved it. 99.9% of staff I have seen have been very good. They are caring, friendly, ensure residents are clean, today and looked after. They do lots of actives, have loads of celebrations and encourage residents to participate. My friend is on the first floor, staff are amazing. Food looks lovely and throughout the day they have plenty to eat and drink. Fabulous, well done guys and Merry Christmas to you all.

This place is the stuff nightmares are made of. From the incompetent ambivalent manager who is abusive to staff and neglectful of residents, to the carers who leave an entire ward of residents in the Excalibur ward (advanced needs dementia patients) unattended to go for a joint cigarette break that lasts 15mins or more, your relative is guaranteed to be neglected. The 1-2-1s all try to pin the residents to their bedrooms whilst they chat away on their phones because they cant be bothered to actually do their jobs. The activities coordinator pesters you to buy balloons for your relative from her friend and does next to nothing to stimulate the residents, because the truth is she doesnt care about their mental or physical well-being and just wants you to nominate her for a carers award (the lack of self awareness is mindblowing) Our relative endured close to 2 years of this abuse, sustained multiple injuries which were ALWAYS unwitnessed, had a wound that was infected for the entire duration of her stay because they could t be bothered to follow care instructions (she recovered within days of leaving KC) and the home never followed up with any kind of investigation, and in the end was forced to hospital at which point she was discharged. Imagine how caring they must be if they evict their residents with zero notice when relatives ask questions or challenge their questionable practices. We didnt know better initially and assumed this is what a carehome works like, but that couldnt be further from the truth. Clothes go missing, mum was always wearing someone elses things even though we painstakingly labelled all her belongings, her teeth are practically falling out and were never brushed, and she could go a week without being showered. Sometimes she was wearing the same outfit for 48 hours and nobody would bother to change her. Her toenails werent clipped for the first year of the pandemic which resulted in damage to her toes and nails. Dont get me started on what they offered at meal times, or things like the pillow practically falling apart with nobody bothering to replace it. Please dont settle for this prison - they dont care about any of their residents and the Maria Mallaband area manager, whilst lovely, is naive and oblivious to this and believes everything the manipulative manager tells him so you will never get any sense of justice either.

An absolutely horrendous example of a care home. Had so many issues throughout my mother's stay. During 18 months , only 4 members of staff seem to genuinely care for the residents on my mother's ward. I witnessed physical and verbal abuse on residents, which was highlighted to management and Harrow safeguarding. Staff have no understanding of dementia and how it presents in a resident.. My mother's TV was taken from her room(by the maintenance man),25 my father left for my mother was taken. But these issue's were minor compared to the blatant neglect that many residents suffer. My mother would regularly have urinary infections, one of which went 6 weeks without treatment. Despite notifying staff and the assistant manager ,nothing was done until my mother began hallucinating and becoming incoherent. Only then was her infection picked up. And her family were not notified. I discovered the reason for my mother's regular urine infections was down to staff hiding pads used for residents in cupboards just to avoid changing them. I raised awareness with whoever I could but to no avail. So I post this,in the hope that other families do not place their relatives in this home, run by Maria Mallaband, and have to endure the behaviour we witnessed. A particular mention is reserved for the manager herself who has absolutely no control or authority over the staff and who seems to view the residents as a commodity. An absolutely despicable "human" being.
