Patient 330469 . Just been for my outpatient check up today . Had a long wait at X-ray for which the lady at reception apologised . And then every step of the way the staff were apologising for patients having to wait . Excellent service from them all . I actually felt sorry for them making excuses for an inept Conservative government underfunding the NHS for the last 14 years. What a great hospital the RNOH is.

Recent back surgery. I was admitted into London Irish ward where I was given a private room which was great, I was told that this would be my room for the duration of my admission and I assume was because I had told them that I struggled to sleep in an open environment. The next day after surgery and recovery I was taken back to what I thought would be my room, only to find out that it has been given to someone else "more needy" and i was put onto a bay with 3 other people. Turns out it was given to someone that had less done than me and didn't need any special treatment I.e Covid etc. Which upset me considerably. My point being...isn't that my room was given to someone else (that didn't need it) it is that you shouldn't tell someone that it will be their room for the duration of their stay, if it is going to be taken away. This caused me so much extra trauma on top of already having 2 operations and now no sleep for 4 days. The HDU were incredible throughout my 2 stays with them, with only one nurse letting the side down (who will remain nameless) and tbh a majority of the nurses on the London Irish ward were also good with only a couple again letting it down slightly (and will again remain nameless) when I was quickly discharged I wasn't given any advice or guidance on my aftercare and I wasn't given any dressings to enable my partner to change them for me. Food was better than expected. Sara P on the HDUwas incredible and I cannot thank her enough for making my time more bearable.
