Set in a quiet Northamptonshire backwater, Cannons Ashby divided opinions in our household, my wife loved it , I thought it was .....peculiar. Both the internal and external aspects have been chopped around by generations of the Dryden family, leaving it( in my opinion) slightly odd looking. Not all of the building is open, but what is open is definitely worth seeing. A long-term tenant at the hall (a crafted silversmith) designed Prince Charles's coronet for his investiture as Prince of Wales. There is an amusing story behind this..ask the guides, who were all helpful and informative . The grounds are wonderful. A short walk over to the church is recommended. Definitely worth a visit.
