This home has been our saving grace! Im writing this review because, when Dad was being transferred to this home from hospital in January 2023, there were no recent reviews to read and, as his daughter, I was worried. I had absolutely no reason to be anxious because this home is amazing on all levels. Dad was placed in this home having spent 12 months in hospital with Caspa2 autoimmune encephalitis, a condition which causes swelling of the brain and symptoms similar to dementia. He was very confused, overwhelmed and violent. The home manager assured me they could meet his needs and, oh my goodness, she wasnt wrong. In the 2 months that he has been at Needwood he has completely transformed. The management, nurses and staff are all wonderful, pleasant and smiley. Dad raves about the food and is in love with the cook! We are always made to feel welcome during visiting and are happy that dads needs are being met. He always looks smart and well kept and we could not be more grateful. Thank you Needwood

My Mother went to Needwood house in August 2016. Prior to that she had been living at home with my father and they had been helped by carers. After a short stay in hospital she was admitted to Needwod because of her behaviour becoming more challenging due to Dementia. When someone is admitted into a care home it is a great change and a shock to the system both to the patient and the relatives it is something completely new and the unknown is always a little frightening and I was unsure what to expect. Needwood was spotlessly clean, warm, nice simple rooms ,hand rails everywhere and LOTS of staff. The home may seem sparse but my Mom could trip over anything and knock all sorts off shelves and fall against things without knowing it, so for her it removed these types of risks and she happily ambled round the home safely with a carer in tow often for hours. There are lots of seats all dotted around to rest and she was quite happy to have a rest for a while watch the world go by then she was off again, My Mom could be loud, cantakerous and very loving and caring all in the space of a few minutes. The staff were always cheerful and nice with understanding thrown in by the bucketfull. If Mom became too wound up they would simply swap one on one carers and peace would return as mom calmed down. She would often go into the office to " help" and "Mrs Little" ,Jackie would sit her down and they would chat whilst she worked. I am sure very few care homes do this. Meals were always good and lots of snacks inbetween time. Help was given with eating as my Mom struggled with holding cutlery and she often took a long while to finish her meal long after others had gone this was never a problem to the staff it was part and parcel of how they care. The carers who bought my Father up to see my Mom every week could not believe how nice and well run the home was (these were people who had worked elsewhere and seen/worked other homes). In the end Mom became weaker and could not fight off any infections as her state of health deminished and we chose to have her stay in the home rather than be moved to a hospital. She died peacefully in her sleep on New Years Eve surrounded by her family and the staff who had lovingly cared for her in the last fourteen months of her life. As a family we could not have asked any more of the Staff they were simply superb.

Excellent care provided for dad. He settled immediately and is always clean and smart. Staff take him out daily and nothing is too much trouble, communication with family is excellent and dad is thriving. Best home I have been in, it's all about patient care. Yes parking can be difficult occasionally but surely the quality of care is THE most important thing not about the parking when good care is hard to find these days! Sue K.

We as a family consider ourselves fortunate that our mother is cared for here. The quality of care is excellent, and the kindness of the staff dealing with her is a pleasure to see. She is happy here, and whilst often confused and occasionally aggressive, by the nature of the illness, the staff manage admirably. She is confident and is happy to interact. The cleanliness of the home and quality of food and drink is all that could be hoped for, with choices and help to eat if needed. Her medical needs are picked up and managed very well, even when not cooperating, and the care is all we could have hoped for.
