I didnt know it is possible to fall in love with a house until I lived in one designed by architect Sophie Bates. Sophie sets the bar for contemporary architecture that is distinguished, practical, embodies harmonious internal flow, as well as great structural design. For us Sophie took a 1960s bungalow and turned it into a modern grand designs eco house. No room or space is taken for granted, every line, shard of light, view and aspect is considered to meticulous detail. I must have looked over the drawings hundreds of time, but each time I would discover another detail Sophie had considered and designed. It has been a total joy working with Sophie. She has this wonderful balance of creating a modern architectural masterpiece whilst making the client feel very much part of the design process. Sophie has a talent for interpreting what our house looked like in my head and making it come to fruition. A day doesnt go by without us reflecting on the incredible home Sophie has created for our family. Sophie designed an extraordinary space, a bespoke house for life. From our first meeting with Sophie Bates she came to the table having throughly researched the house we wanted to remodel, the area and the local planning history. This attention to detail continues with Sophie in every aspect of her work. This is a reflection of Sophies other strength, her diligence managing and delivering a build from conception through planning, contracts and construction to a high end specification. When executing a build of this standard Sophie keeps a hawk like eye on all the design, structural and technical details so that the final vision is delivered.

We commissioned Sophie to work magic on our very rundown property. We had a few ideas of what we wanted but Sophie added so much more imagination, ideas and flair to our project. She was always punctual, got great quotes for all the work, and all round did an outstanding job. We will most definitely engage Sophie again the next time we have a renovation.

Sophie came up with a design we would never have thought of and using materials and finishes we didn't know about. We are thrilled with the result and the end product is very contemporary, stunning inside and out and impresses all who visit. Sophie was a delight to work with and her professionalism and attention to detail were exemplary.
