It's a truly beautiful cottage, and has been renovated very well. However, it isn't very comfortable... The sofa has seen better days, the padding has deteriorated and is so soft you feel the structure of the base. The mattresses on the beds are thin stiff foam, like a gym matt. The very strong smell of heating oil makes the dining room unusable. The garden is noce but very overlooked and only a wooden picnic table or metal chairs to sit on. Being surrounded by photos of a family you don't know is a bit creepy, like you're trespassing in someone's home. The bath in the loft room looks great but is uncomfortable and slippy, and the view is just of sky, rather than the beautiful countryside. The loo is against the eves so guys have to sit regardless of what they're doing. Every window and the garden can be seen from the road and other properties, rather than the privacy suggested in the photos. There were no logs for the wood burner, no welcome pack, not even a pint of milk, and you're not allowed to use the aga. The marks, missing paint, and cracks in the walls also show how the cottage isn't looked after. It's also worth noting that you can't really walk to a shop or pub as it would be along the busy A39 with no footpath.

We are leaving a day early because my back cannot put up with the poor quality of the beds & top floor bedroom. The photos of the cottage portray a large king-size bed in an open plan ensuite converted attic. The reality is a king-size bed jammed up against an end wall with little to no access to get into the bed. The slope of the roof means that my wife hit her head on the roof beams & I had to crawl on my knees. After finding that the mattress was a thin futon-style one with no comfort possible. I then tried the beds in the twin room. Similar poor quality mattresses there, but at least I could stand up when getting in them. The cottage showed severe signs of neglect. The top bedroom door handle came off in my hand. The washing machine door seal had black fungus trapped in it & the wood burning stove was full of it's last fire ash. Even the first meal was spoilt by the lack of salt in the dispenser. Overall an unclean experience that I do not wish on any body
