I was shocked when I saw how short my hair had been cut; the senior tier hairdresser and I were talking about a MOB. I also asked for something flattering and pretty but got a plain boy-ish cut which emphasises the defects in my facial structure. To be fair, the hairdresser cut professionally and maybe once my hair grows I will be less unhappy. Also, the hairdresser knew that I would not likely be back for 5-6 months and possibly thought his cut was the best option. All in all, disappointing for 75 - it took awhile to save up for that!! PS you have an excellent marketing department. Service: Hairstyling

I have alternated between this salon and the Temple Fortune one since 1998 , and have *always* been pleased with the end result . I have trusted HOB standards , and have not minded who the appointment was with so long as I could be fitted in at short notice. I work extremely hard , Im not a lady who lunches , and family needs come before mine so I do not have the luxury of making appointments far in advance My issue -and why I feel outraged enough to write a review,-is not the quality of the hairdressing per se which is excellent , but the opaque and dishonest charging practices of which I was a victim . Prior to my most recent appointment , I wanted to clarify what the cost would be for my usual 4 times -a -year cut ( trim , not a restyle : nothing radical/ complicated with the aim to look healthy with low maintenance) , colour with a senior colorist( aim basically getting rid of white hairs and looking natural) and Olaplex. This was not a question of affordability but rather a curiosity as to a significant cost difference between what I was charged for the same thing , same stylist level at the TF and Camden salons short time apart . I spoke to Marco and he said that it would come to about160 , although he pointed out that this could change if the colourist wanted to do something more with the colour . I accepted this as it tallied with a 10% price increase , which was not totally unexpected after 3 months .When I got there the colourist Emma actively persuaded me to try balayage . I was hesitant because I was fearful of looking vulgar/ unnatural and it was a process I was unfamiliar with. She assured me I would love the result and urged me to go ahead . When I queried what the cost would be before giving the go-ahead , I was told 100 more , to which I agreed. When finished , my hair looked very good but barely discernibly different from the non-balayage colour I had three months before in September for143 at the same salon with same colourist. I was then shocked at the 283 bill at the end - 125 more than the original quote . I paid up without saying anything and asked if I could use the loo . But to add insult to injury upon returning from the Ladies and nodding a goodbye to the reception desk , I was stopped and told they had made a mistake and undercharged me and demanded another 28 claiming theyd forgotten to add Olaplex ! (So in total I paid 311)But any look at the records will show I always have it and definitely made sure by checking with reception, colourist and even shampooist before they started . Extraordinary And Brazen. I was in a hurry for another appointment and didnt want to make a scene so paid up . But afterwards I felt cheated , utterly played ! Im so unhappy I have lost trust in HOB . If I had more time I would collate more evidence to help my old school friend who is a broadsheet journalist write a consumer article As it is , this review will just alert other honest respectful hardworking folk to HOBs charging practices.
