Ive had many dealings with Grant Wright Associates (GWA), and with Mr Wright himself, for over a decade now. Ive never been anything less than impressed with the integrity and the professionalism of both Mr Wright and the firm he heads. I have absolutely no hesitation is recommending GWA to anyone.

Worst company to deal with. Owner Grant Wright is very aggressive and unprofessional.

We decided to gut our house to reshape it to fit our needs. It was clear the project was going to be a major undertaking. In this context, we appointed GWA to manage the project (and the builders) for us. One important area of GWA's expertise proved to be meticulous documentation; this facilitated the control of costs and the quality of work on a project where many more variations were required than we had expected. Long story short, GWA saved us a small fortune in terms of both the original scope of work and the many variations to the contract. And they negotiated the variations through with the builders. No small success in an industry sadly characterised by budget and scope disputes. GWA also provided design services and other advice as part of the project which made the property a more pleasant place to live in and a better financial investment. (PS I am no relation to GW)

A dinosaur of the highest order unfortunately - if you are looking for quick & helpful advice, in a friendly manner, this is not the place. Surveying is not my profession, however I sell for a living. When I spoke to Grant, he was hostile and very unhelpful stating: "you obviously don't know enough about this, I stopped the clock to take this call" - clearly, that's why I called! To then be told it will cost nearly 1500 just to essentially give me his view....I don't normally write scathing reviews, but this is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. If you read this Grant Wright, some pointers: - Don't be the first point of contact with potential customers, you are undoubtedly losing lots of business this way, your phone manner is appalling and you have no concept of consultative selling, solution selling or selling a service in general. - Define an efficient (read cost effective) method of assessing a case. 1500 is not a small some of money, certainly too large for essentially a quote. - Improve your phone manner, people call you because they don't understand, otherwise you're function would be redundant. Questions are not attacks, they are someone trying to understand what might be so extensive to warrant a 1500 initial outlay. - Get a better telephony solution, you dropped the call and complained of a bad line, I'm certain my phone is fine. A 3-4 second delay on a UK-to-UK call is unacceptable. (I work in telecommunications) I did not decide to proceed with Grant Wright - FYI, other surveyors offer 500 flat rate initial appointment survey and a clear path forward with defined options.

We hired Grant Wright before seeing these complaints and can't see where they are coming from. I find them very effective and respectful of the time they spend. We had severe leakage in our period-building flat in London W2 that we rent out when it rained. David Smith at Grant Wright correctly assessed the situation and it was remedied much to our relief as we don't live in London. Fees of any good chartered surveyor are going to be high so you have to use them in the right way. They charge a lot because they are experts. In our case, it made sense to use an expert / surveyor. It would have cost much more in terms of money plus time and stress if we had various workmen in to try to fix something that was actually only within control of building management.
