Visited with my elderly mother for afternoon tea only to be told that they weren't doing it as they had no staff. Think having to book might be a better option

We had an afternoon tea here, the food itself was good probably 4 star. Unfortunately to echo some of the other reviews the decor is really tired/worn the floor covering was peeling away and seats are ripped. It wasn't busy and there were plenty of staff, but tables were routinely left covered in half eaten abandoned food for 20 minutes and getting a single refill on the 'infinite coffee' took repeated requests & half an hour so I never even got to drink it. Extreme let down unfortunately.

My daughter bought me a chocolate eclair today which cost 4.00 it was pretty much inedible. The choux pastry was rock hard. It was absolutely appalling. The best you could say was that the cream was fresh. Absolutely disgusting.

We took our French visitors their while visiting Cambridge. What a disaster! 1st a very long wait to be served, and when we eventually received our order, the espresso we're minuet, and the ice cream and cake were almost tasteless. We complained but were told that was the standard one-shot coffee. Then we used the toilet. Dirty and with no paper. A disgrace.! We certainly will Not be visiting there again..

We had a very disappointing experience. I had a voucher for afternoon tea for my 60th birthday. We were greeted and seated immediately and our pots of tea were delivered promptly however it seemed that they forgot to bring our food. We waited for 50 minutes before enquiring whether our food would be much longer and then another 15 minutes before it arrived the cafe was not busy. I think the food had been prepared when we first arrived but theyd forgotten to bring it to us because the sandwiches and cakes on the outer edges of the cake stand had started to go stale. The food was ok not as advertised there was no salmon bellini, they forgot to put the cream on the stand and the mini cream filled profiteroles tasted off. Very sad because I know my friends really wanted me to enjoy the experience but instead I just feel fed up that they wasted their money.
