We had a lovely dinner at the ivy for our wedding anniversary. It was the end of a bank holiday weekend so there was quite a long list of dishes missing from the menu but there was still plenty of choice and we really enjoyed our meals. At the end of the meal there was a lovely surprise when our waiter brought us a profiterole with two spoons and wished us a happy anniversary. The atmosphere was lovely, casual but you can dress up if you want. The little entrance hall makes it feel high end and the decor throughout is brilliant. Will totally come back again.

I took my sister here for a nice meal and a catch up - we were both excited and had high expectations.....we were not disappointed! We didn't book a table, just rocked up about 3PM on Friday - when we were told the only seating was "at the bar" we both thought it would be actually at the bar. But we had a small, intimate table FACING the bar...not actually at it in a "Cheers" style We had several servers throughout the meal, all were polite, helpful and attentive - without being bothersome. Food was good value (cheaper than expected), and truly delicious, as was the champagne cocktail. Service wasn't lightning fast, but neither were we kept waiting too long, especially considering it was quite busy due to uni graduations taking place. For balance, the only VERY minor negatives were that it was quite noisy (partly due to the diners, partly background music) & that the ladies toilet decor was to die for, but the men's had a vibe of Southend seafront public toilets! Lastly, there was a sign upon entry that stated no photos, which we reluctantly respected.....only to see 2 other diners taking full on Insta videos & photos with an SLR!!
