Burr Bridal

I had a lovely time at Burr Bridal at the weekend. It was my first time trying on wedding dresses and I was so nervous about what to expect! Kim talked me through everything and offered great advice and guidance. Kim picked out the dress that ended up being my favourite of the day and I keep revisiting the photos. I felt so confident and supported and intend to come back to try on the dress again. Thanks again for all the help and time you gave us :)

Just wanted to pop on here and such a huge thank you to Raven for all your help, support and advice in my wedding dress journey. You were absolutely amazing and have given me some real pointers I wouldnt have even thought of. Im so glad I found my gorgeous wedding dress with you!

From the very first contact Kim was incredible. Im a bigger girl and I was absolutely terrified theyd have nothing in my size. I was so nervous that my mum rang the shop (yes Im in my 30s and my mum is still doing these things, haha) - Kim was so reassuring and spoke through every part of the day. She made sure we had her on the day and I found my dream dress! Burr Bridal is a wonderful shop and I will definitely recommend it to any friends in the future! Thank you for making me feel like I deserved to feel beautiful. I cant wait for our wedding so I can show my dress off to everyone!

I visited yesterday for a 90 minute paid Saturday appointment and the experience was ok but not great. We were greeted by the owner who was initially friendly but immediately told us that the lady who would be looking after us was late in. I feel a more appropriate way to approach this could have been to ask a few questions about the engagement or encouraging us to browse the product and we didn't need to know that anything was wrong. I had contacted the store prior to the appointment to explain that I was a general size 22 in UK sizes and because of my size I was apprehensive about the choice available for me to try at the shop. I was assured that there would be plenty of choice so booked in. There was plenty of choice for smaller figures but not for anyone over a size 18 to actually try on and do up. There were no gowns that I could try that actually fit me of any style, never mind ones I would actually choose. I ended up with options that were 4 to 5 sizes too small. This coupled with other shoppers being allowed to come past me while I had my whole back on show during my paid 90 minute time slot meant I grew slightly uncomfortable as my fears about looking for a gown began to resurface. The girl who helped me was very polite, worked hard to find accessories and styles for me to try, listened to my queries, likes and dislikes and tried to make it the best experience she could. She apologised for the everso slight delay in getting started and it really wasn't a big issue for us - had we not been told it wouldn't have mattered at all. I left having thought it had been an OK experience but it left me feeling like finding my dress was going to be hard work. I've taken the time to write this review because, as a curvy bride, I had a fabulous experience at the next appointment elsewhere that same day in Cambridge that really put into focus how poor the choice and surroundings at Burr was for me. I hope that the shop will take my comments on board and look to improve the range in store and surroundings for future curvy brides or make it clear to those who specifically enquire that there is limited stock to properly try on so they don't over promise and underdeliver. Comparing my two visits on Saturday with a few simple changes from Burr my personal experience could have been so much better and its important that curvy brides are aware of the limited choice to actually try on.
