Emma and her team were tasked with designing a kitchen extension and family area on the rear of our listed Georgian house in central Cambridge. The consultation process was a joy. Emma listened carefully to my requests, and produced 4 design options from which to choose. I was very excited by the final decision, and at all times was kept up to date in the planning process.Particularly important was the interface between the old house and the new build, which the local conservation officer agreed was respectfully achieved. Due to extraneous concerns, a house move intervened and the work was not taken forward. However I cannot recommend Emma and her colleagues highly enough.

Choosing the right architect isnt easy. We spent significant time and effort choosing between five of Cambridges top architect practices before we selected Ashworth Parkes for the creation of our forever home in central Cambridge. We have never regretted our decision. Emma and her team were excellent from initial concept through planning, contractor selection, and managing the build project through to handing over the keys. Emmas combination of creativity and practicality and her dedication to cost control and timescales meant the project ran as smoothly as possible during COVID and the supply chain issues that followed. We can also attest to her brilliant client management skills! We love our new home and often find ourselves thanking Emma for the design decisions we made together. Wed have no hesitation in recommending Emma and Ashworth Parkes!

We had an unusual experience. Jeremy came to view our detached property in central Cambridge and discussed our house extension with my wife and I for about one and half hours. He seemed like a really a nice person and we liked his work and he said he would mail a quote shortly. After not receiving the quote we left a series of telephone messages with his very pleasant staff and two emails. The last communication was an email asking him to let us know if he did not wish to do the work to please let us know so that we could then ask another architect and they could provide costs instead. Not wishing to look as though we were harassing him we gave up, some time after the other architects had informed us of their costs. I can only conclude if you are looking for an architect who responds not just in a timely manner but at all, then perhaps Jeremy is not the man for you.

Jeremy and his team designed our new house in Caldecote, helped us through a complex planning process, assisted in the sourcing of a main contractor and then assisted throughout the build phase. We cannot speak highly enough of Ashworth Parkes - most importantly, we have a completely wonderful finished product, the 'forever' home that we wanted. It is built to a very high quality, a function of the detail and thought that Jeremy put into every detail, coupled with the excellent relationship he maintained with our main contractor. His eye for detail is outstanding, with so many well thought through design ideas. The daunting thing about building a house is the number of decisions you have to make, and he took so much of that out of our hands, much to our relief. I could go on... Just as importantly perhaps, Jeremy forged a great relationship with us as his clients. We chose him because, having interviewed several architects, and having been let down by one, he more than anyone else, seemed to 'get' what we wanted. Our choice was proven to be correct. It was a big project, the build phase alone taking a year, the planning and design phase beforehand not much less, yet despite that timescale and the endless amounts of engagement, everyone remained cheery and optimistic, and both proud and delighted with the end result. Would we do it all again? Absolutely!
