I am very disappointed with what started out as a promising agent! I was about to accept a lower offer for my property as I just wanted to move on in a slow market for flats but I was persuaded by the Camberwell branch manager that they could get me a much better offer in 4 weeks. I agreed and signed up for 4 weeks. To be fair they did get many viewers through the door and Josh worked very hard to try and get my property sold. Then the Brixton branch got involved and that's when I saw another side of Beresford Residential. They (Brixton) showed little respect when carrying out viewings, allowing people to keep their trainers on (despite my no shoes rule being made clear) and unnecessarily touching blinds that were already drawn up (covid hazard). Also leaving viewers waiting for them to arrive to the point that I had to call the Brixton Branch to try to find out if the agent was still carrying out the viewing. When I complained to the Brixton Branch manager he tried to argue with me and justify it. I had to tell him that I never had this problem when Josh from the Camberwell branch carried out any viewings at my property. The Camberwell branch manager said that he would eat his hat if my property did not sell in 4 weeks and I did get an acceptable offer within that time frame, which appeared to come from the Brixton branch where the manger told me that they are 'more aggressive' than the Camberwell branch. Offer was accepted and solicitors were in place and then I received an email from my solicitor on 27th May to say that the sale has fallen through as the buyers had not been able to get financing through a mortgage. My solicitor then told me to contact my estate agent and was surprised that they had not contacted me to let me know what had happened. I called the Camberwell office and the manager there (who did not eat his hat after all, so watch out for that line) said that these things happen and that I should speak to the manager at Brixton (Mr Maurice Applewhaite) to find out more. I called and was told he is away until the following day. I explained what I had been told by my solicitor to Mr Applewhaite's colleague, and was advised to speak to Mr Applewhaite the following day. I tried calling Mr Applewhaite a few times (including on his work mobile) and sent and email and do you know, it is now 16th June and I have not heard from anyone from Beresford Residential! No response to my initial email letting them know that the sale has fallen through (they should be letting me know)! No response to my messages left with colleagues or to my missed calls on Mr Applewhaite's work mobile. My suspicion is that they didn't bother checking that the buyers had funds/mortgage in principle in the first place. If you are looking to sell this is a huge waste of time and a basic piece of work that they should have carried out. Also the total lack of customer service and follow up is a red flag. They have not said a single word to me about this and they still have my door keys! Its obvious someone messed up (no prizes for guessing who) but the way they have just disregarded the collapse of my sale and moved on to the next customer is something that you should consider before appointing them. Also be weary of any response that they may make to my review and bear in mind that they may respond to online comments that everyone can see but I am yet to get any response to my emails, calls and messages that were left on the 27th May and beyond! If not for my solicitor I would not have known that the sale fell through! I simply cant recommend this agent but I will say that I was impressed with Josh's hard work but that's about it. Steer well clear...

No hesitation in recommending this team. We selected them to help us sell our property because Pete (Branch Manager) seemed like a really approachable and honest bloke. He didn't try and tell us what we wanted to hear, instead, he was honest and up front with us, even if that meant he may not get the work while other agents made unrealistic promises. That is a valuable commodity. Throughout the process Pete and Josh (who managed the sale) were prompt in responding to us and our conveyancer and extremely helpful and forthcoming to the buyers. Thanks guys - much appreciated!
