The estate is huge and the garden is nice and tranquil. On a positive note, the receptionist was helpful and room was very clean. The breakfast was served quickly and with plenty of choices. The gym and golf facilities look decent, but we didnt try them. However, the hotel and spa do not live up to our expectation (anchored by the price). The so called infinity pool is actually rather small. At times (before dinner), pool side could get crowded and noisy. The steam room is not hot, while the sauna room is hot but a bit small. The biggest regret was that I had booked for a work it out massage and it felt so underwhelming and way too overpriced at 60/30min. I particularly mentioned areas to be focused on and it was agreed with the massager, but in the end all I had was repetitive application of oil on my back. Very disappointed and it wasnt even 30 minutes. Bowood must have a different interpretation of what a proper massage is. During dinner hours, they were short of staff to serve a full house of guests. Had to wait quite long for ordering and food to arrive. Yes, theres service charge and even dress code in hotel room booklet. In contrast, they couldnt even bother to remove plates from starters! If you come for golf, perhaps great; for spa, not that much.
