We have been doing Kumon with Carol for 2 years plus and the transformation has been amazing. My daughter went from tears and sulks to dreaming about it!! She even declared last week that it was quite cool actually and has made maths at school so easy! It has also increased her confidence, she has loved and flourished from the challenge and has transferred the discipline she has learned from Kumon to her homework and school work. It has made her feel empowered and responsible for her learning. All that at 6 years old! This is thanks to Carol for her patient and empathetic teaching style whilst still demanding commitment and performance from the student. Even during lockdown, it help provide much needed structure. I would highly recommend.

We have been working with Carol and Kumon in Islington for over a year now, and our child's confidence with maths, which was originally pretty low, has grown and blossomed. (It's even given us grownups a good refresher, which was an unexpected bonus!) Carol and her team are helpful, positive and committed, and have navigated the pandemic with great professionalism to ensure that the children's learning has been able to proceed uninterrupted. I've been so impressed with Carol that we recently signed up to the English programme as well. Heaven forbid that the schools ever have to close again, but now, more than ever, I think Kumon is such an important resource for our family because I know that, even if the future is uncertain right now, I don't need to worry about our child keeping on top of these key subjects; Kumon and Carol have us all covered.

Our Children started Kumon maths with Carol in September this year after concerns over our parental ability to home school maths over the late spring lock down (and if it should happen again, how to keep them motivated in maths). And I was worried that primary school SAT tests would make them anxious so we were keen to get them practised at sitting down for ten minutes to concentrate and learn to like beating the clock. They do a ten minute basic / repetitive maths worksheet a day before school and then once a week onsite visit to the maths kumon session. Both our children say they find the kumon worksheets easy but strangely, both now claim that maths at school is their favourite subject even though the maths is different. Our youngest has even been awarded a maths prize; both are confident with numbers now, make a lot less mistakes so are concentrating more even with background noise that they have learnt to block out and both love doing number puzzles such as sudoku, number towers and number crosswords that they come across in the back of kids magazines. And the methodology has also helped them in spelling also; the kumon method repetitive learning and answering correctly under pressure has seen their spelling test results get to a near perfect 100% (up from around 80% last year).
