Lovely bed & breakfast. Room was fine, plenty of hot water in the shower. Service was exceptional ... made you feel at home, very welcoming and always happy to help. Location just outside Buxton ... 15-20 minute walk to centre ... but the walk back is up a steep hill Breakfast was amazing ... Fresh fruit bowl + yoghurt, then a super cooked breakfast including oatcakes. Would we go there again ... Very much yes

Rooms: The room was quiet and well equipped, lovely and clean , the history of the place circa 1580 is mind blowing . Nearby activities: Lots of wonderful walks , with iconic places like Matlock and Bakewell nearby . Castleton famous for the Blue John stone, the village is delightful. Loads more places somewhere for everyone. Safety: With walls that thick I reckon the battlements would be hard to be breached. Walkability: We easily walked into Buxton town centre and even caught the train there into Manchester City for the day. Food & drinks: The breakfast at Hawthorn farm is fabulous lots of choices for all dietary needs , nothing is too much trouble with Paul and Sarah has our hosts . Hubby had the full English and didnt want anything else all day , barring the obligatory tea and a slice cake Noteworthy details: The age of the farm and the great location are what makes it special.
