The best place I stayed in on my Hadrian's Wall walk, and I did stay in some lovely places. This, however, was exceptional. It's a beautiful, substantial farmhouse set in lovely grounds beside a river. High-ceilinged and tastefully decorated, every room is gorgeous without being crass or overdone. There's nowhere local for an evening meal so the owner who was simply fabulous will cook for you by prior arrangement. I'd been initially skeptical about this, but it was magnificent. As was breakfast! A brilliant place to stay. Walkability: About a mile off of the Hadrian's Wall path, but easy to find. Just follow the road downhill until the river, and it's across the other side via the bridge.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay - wish we'd had the time to stay longer! Fantastically decorated throughout and so comfy. A credit to the lovely Deborah. A lovely lady and made a brilliant breakfast the next morning. We've already made enquiries as to staying again as we have family to see who are local to that area. Cannot rate Deborah and Lanercost Equestrian and Country highly enough!

Google needs to add another star for me to be able to do full justice to how good this b&b is. The rooms are fantastic. The evening meal was superb and large portions. Deborah also serves beer and wine. Excellent breakfast and lovely sandwiches for our lunch today, walking Hadrian's Wall. And if everything had not already been a six star service, our walking boots had been dried out overnight! Ideal location for the start of day 2 of walking the Wall. Fantastic host.
