"Caveat emptor"....sums up this company really. Ordered 200m2 of white ash flooring throughout whole house. As you can see in the pictures, once almost laid, numerous boards had began to delaminate (top ash lamella simply warping off the plywood base). It was obvious their machine had failed to press the glue adequately and about 20 boards (up to 3.5m) were affected. Any reputable company who had been informed that their boards were popping up left, right and centre, causing havoc for a family trying to renovate their home and move back in, would just be on it. Yet, for WFE to let the saga drag on for months with no immediate direct offer of help or assessment of the problem reeks of a company with no quality control, customer care or genuine commitment to the consumer. To cut a long story short.... 1) Took numerous photographs, emails and letters for company to actually admit a manufacturing fault, likely prompted by the threat of legal action once we reached a stalemate. The boards were stored indoors in a suitable environment and so there is no possible way one could dispute anything else (see photo with glue lines). 2) No acknowledgement of the monumentous task of replacing the boards after all architraves, skirting down and decorated - did not even want to come and view extent of problem. 3) Their solution - churn out more boards and just send them down. 4) Their recommended fitter agreed to replace the individual boards affected - a rather skilled and time-comsuming job - which took 3 visits in total from Somerset to us. Although WFE agreed to pay him, they subequently refused, dragged their heels etc once each stage done - they only paid up with the threat of legal action once again. (See photos of props in place and images of disruption from taking up boards ) 5) They refused to pay for the final visit so that cost us another 750. 5) Aftercare is non-existant - they just do not care once they have made the sale. Yes, we were probably unlucky that our batch was so badly affected, but they have not once apologised, offered to come and assess the issue nor followed up to see how the repair work has been managed. Just do not give a monkeys. 6. Even some boards were not exactly the same thickness all the way along - the way they are pulled out the machine at the end means when laid, they dip down next to the next board in a row. The boards generally look okay (at a distance) but we very much regret not spending just a little bit more with Havwoods or Chaunceys for proper quality engineered boards. We were always dubious about quality from their sample, but were sold by their sales pitch, width of boards and extra long lengths available. So either spend a little bit more and go for real quality, or just save your money and go for a cheaper brand, so at least you'll know what you'll be getting. Moreover, we specified we wanted an oiled floor so could carry out patch repairs as required. What was not made clear was that the product is an UV cured oiled floor and you cannot patch repair a board. Osmo raw as recommended does not work and creates a shiny spot on a board. Its all or nothing with a UV-oiled board so it seems - this information was not relayed to us either.
