My husband stayed for 9 days early in June for a respite break. He has minor dementia and mobility issues. All seemed very good to us, but he was very critical of the care explaining to me that the problem was not enough staff and he heard the staff themselves complaining of this problem frequently. I particularly asked for him to be guided to the toilet in the night but he said they were often quite long in answering his call and in fact did use incontinence pads on him when he was not incontinent. Quite an affront to his dignity! Clearly this would be a staffing problem. My husband rarely complains about anything and unfortunately suffered a bad fall the day after his return and has now been in hospital care for 7 weeks at 4 different hospitals. He has consistently praised all the nursing care he is receiving. Both residents and existing staff deserve better support from Advina management as I am sure the staff we met really wanted to offer good care.

Lovely setting, caring staff, home from home, quiet residents, not too big, but I think a bit expensive. NB No bar in building. Just a tea room, dining room, couple of lounges, hair dressing room, etc. But residents can buy and are provided with the occassial tipple. I don't remember any Jazz evening been mentioned and dad has lived there for 7 years!
