Today I had such a shock calling the Manager at Andrew Smith Care home. I spoke with a Manager who was rude and actually put the phone down on me. All I was trying to do is find out my Mums care Plan. The Manager said to me " Why should we tell you anything you have not seen her in 20 years". What a shock she knows nothing about what me and my sister went through and how hard our lives have been. I have not cried for a long time but this brought me to tears. All I want to do is look after my Mum , she was so happy to see her two daughters when we went to see her. I cant believe the service I received. I would like to get my Mum out of Andrew Smith Care home in Nelson , if that's the Manager Attitude . Terrible .

Attended today on a professional capacity. The customer service was exceptional. Especially from Jordan Cassidy and Haleema, who went beyond the call of duty to assist. My father is currently in rest bite & says he doesn't want to come home. Well I didn't expect that, I thought he would be running back home. It's all good!

After receiving a disappointing CQC report in November, I have seen a great many changes. Each unit now has unit managers, so daily running is much more structured and organised. Rooms and corridors are having a fresh facelift. Exciting future plans are in place, such as a unique quiet room and the use of wall murals and signage to enhance the dementia friendly setting. Activities are more frequent. Now we have more on the team we are able to run activities in and out of house simultaneously. The care staff in my opinion are and always have been conscientious, kind and considerate. Caring with the utmost respect for everyone's dignity. They are well trained and informed in person Centered care which shows in the high level of competency and professionalism when caring for someone. Regardless of the report I see the future of Andrew Smith being one of the best, because as a team we are all striving towards the same goal.
