My Mum recently joined the group at Dercliffe. She is 86 yrs and has dementia. My family chose the care home because one of the resident's in there assured us that the care givers are very kind. So far, [in my opinion] my mum has settled in very well and is happier than I could have believed in such a short time. I am allowed to call her regularly. She isn't given a time limit for the phone. The staff are young and cheerful and the residents that I have spoken to seem very content. It is a very difficult time of life, seeing your mum disappear before your eyes, but knowing that she is well cared for and content makes the transition much more bearable.

My mum had a stay here this year and understandably didnt like it at first but Michelle and her staff were wonderful with her and she soon settled in, we couldnt really ask more off them. Unfortunately mum had a few episodes of having to go back into hospital until the point of where her care needs exceeded the level of care provided. After a few furious arguments with certain hospital staff who wanted to literally just dump mum back there, with help from Michelle an assessment was done and yes she required nursing care so off to a nursing home in Rossendale she went. After 2 weeks she was re admitted into hospital who alerted us to 8 new serious pressure sores. That itself shows just how much Michelles staff go beyond their expected level of care of their residents, I think the nursing home could well do to take some tips off them. If youve a relative going into here then theyll do their best for them, its a shame my mums condition didnt level out so she could have stayed there.
