This modern chapel houses the Burnley Ward (parish) of the Chorley England Stake (diocese) and has been on this site since the first stage construction in 1969, built largely with member and volunteer labour. The members formerly met on Liverpool Road in the Rosegrove area of Burnley in a building now used as a private swimming club. The Belvedere Road building, close to the Turf Moor football ground, has twice been extended to the rear. It encloses a large multifunctional hall with portion dividers to create either a large chapel or a smaller chapel and cultural hall. A kitchen and several classrooms facilitate children, youth, and adult Sunday School classes. The ward boundaries include Clitheroe, Nelson, Colne, and the Trough of Bowland. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has had a continuous presence in Burnley since 1838. Visitors are always welcome. Services are held on Sundays with Sacrament Meeting at 10:30am and conclude at 11:30am. A second meeting, Sunday School, or separate classes for different age groups, follow at 11:40am to 12:30pm. Services are of a type that would be familiar to many other Christian faiths, including Methodists and Baptists.
