If I could give a minus number I would. The people who work at the council fail to realise that they serve the residents and business owners of the Borough. They are NOT doing us a favour when dealing with enquiries. The Burnley Council, together with Lancashire County Council make you want to relocate - to anywhere but Lancashire. This review has not been made after one interaction with the Council, but series of interactions over a number of years, Every customer touch point is difficult, from the very substandard website that has users going round in circles, to inadequate handling of phone calls. The UK economy is facing challenges, but being told that when I speak to a Council representative is not good enough. Private sector organisations are facing challenges, but they would never say that to a customer. People are taking time to write negative reviews; this is telling.

I cannot fault Burnley Council one bit! I bought a house on Gannow Lane in May. On the day I moved in, I had an issue with my downpipe leaking water all over the brickwork. I rang up and was told by someone that it's basically my house, my problem. I very much did expect this as its a very true and fair comment! I was however a little disappointed as whenever I viewed the property, the weather was good. Now had I of viewed the property if it were raining and noticed the leak, I would have wanted it fixing before completion so due to this, I put a complaint in and received a phone call from a lovely gent called Wayne who sent someone out the same day to fix the downpipe. 2 months later, I came home from work and had a flood in my kitchen, it was the boiler. I contacted Wayne who again, sent a contractor out that day. Now although the issue ended up being the heat exchange plate so the contractor couldn't touch it (as the boiler is under warranty) Wayne and the contractors still came to the initial rescue to try and identify the issue (later fixed by the boiler manufacturers). A month later, I have damp in my dining room. Wayne again sent the contractor out who identified multiple issues with NEXT DOORS CHIMNEY yet the contractors pointed their chimney up just so it didn't cause more damage to my property, they then dropped me off some damp proof paint off later that day! Today I noticed a wet patch on my living room ceiling but rather than me call Wayne, I contacted Bash who is the contractor and again, one of his team arrived at my property within the hour to sort out my bathroom where the leak is coming from. All these issues have been fixed at no cost to myself (I didn't realise when I purchased the house that I get a 12 month warranty). Nonetheless I would highly recommend purchasing a refurbished house from Burnley council. The customer service is impeccable. They want their customers satisfied which I can truly say I am. I am a single lady in my 20's so had I of needed to get these issues fixed myself, it would have cost me a lot of time and money. Not to mention I would have been waiting weeks for other companies to come and rectify the issues. Thank you so much Wayne, Bash and your teams!
