I now only use this branch if I am desperate! My gripe with HSBC Burnley is pre-Covid. I have been a commercial customer with HSBC for 10 years and always found them helpful with their counter service. On one occasion, the counter marked as business customers only was unattended but not closed. So I waited 10 minutes while staff were around until the woman behind the glass at the other position said the business counter was closed and I'd have to join the queue for her. This was, by this point, reaching towards the door. Reluctantly, I joined the queue and waited and waited, getting nowhere after around 15 minutes. I then addressed a staff member at the podium and demanded to see the manager, totally appalled with the lack of customer service. I was told to wait in in the area marked as "HSBC Premier", where I could have helped myself to a pod coffee if I wanted to. Over half an hour later, the manager eventually showed up, invited me to the private area and asked what my problem was. Like she didn't know?? The problem was the business counter was closed for no apparent reason (when staff were around that could have opened it). That there was not one apology by staff for me wasting an hour in there. That HSBC now see if fit to remove all their counters from branches to make them "digital only". I am a business that needs cash/change. To only be told by the manager that there's nothing she can do and I should instead go to the Post Office for my change! IF I WANTED TO BANK WITH THE POST OFFICE, I WOULD HAVE OPENED AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM 10 YEARS AGO!!! I still bank with HSBC. I received an apology in writing from their customer service team at head office. There is still a programme of branch closures and counter replacements, so nothing is going to get better. I, for now, travel to the HSBC branch at Clitheroe (an extra 9 miles) where they still have a counter with friendly staff - mostly older that have been relocated there, and who have a better customer service ethic than the younger ones pratting about with an iPad at Burnley. I just fear that the Clitheroe branch doesn't have long left as the town has already lost its Santander and Yorkshire Banks and the Barclays is due to close in September '22. Aug 25th, 2022

This branch is never open! I have travelled a 15 mile round trip 3 times since the middle of December to access counter services and every time it is shut! Today I checked the times on Google, updated by the bank themselves, before making my journey. According to Google they are open until 4.30pm all week, but when I got there (before 4pm) there was a sign on the door saying they close at 2pm all week. Extremely shoddy service - stop using Covid as an excuse for not being open! Apr 25th, 2022
