When operating, the Miniature Railway is a lovely day out for the family, especially for those close by. From what we've been told, the entire railway is operated by local volunteers, who have collected together the resources and money to install a narrow gauge railway around the outside of the Burghclere Sports Club field. For a small ticket fee, you can ride on one of the small electric or steam locomotives around the field and back again - and usually (weather permitting), there is a barbecue and drinks stall next to the track. A nice little attraction to visit - although maybe not quite enough to make a whole day out of it.
